Fridzo ("we," "us," "our") provides an AI-powered pantry management and meal planning app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Fridzo, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: email address, name, and password (encrypted) when you create an account, including via Google Sign-In.

Profile and preferences: dietary goals, health goals, and calorie targets you choose to provide.

Pantry and shopping data: items you add to your pantry, fridge, freezer, and shopping lists, including data extracted from receipt photos or barcode scans you choose to upload.

Miso AI conversations: messages you send to our AI assistant, Miso, which are processed to generate responses and may be retained to improve the service.

Subscription and payment information: we use RevenueCat and the Google Play Store to process subscriptions. We do not directly collect or store your payment card details.

Usage data: basic app usage and diagnostic information to help us fix bugs and improve the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Under UK and EU data protection law, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:

4. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following service providers, solely to operate the app:

Each of these providers processes data under their own privacy and security practices, and only receives the information necessary to perform their function for Fridzo.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and app data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated data from our systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.

6. Your Choices

7. Your Rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have the following rights over your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, email us at fridzoapp@outlook.com. We aim to respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

Fridzo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, and row-level security on our database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Transfers

Fridzo is available globally, and some of our service providers (including Anthropic, Supabase, and others listed above) process data in the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law — such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework — so that your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of Fridzo after changes means you accept the updated policy.

12. Contact Us

Fridzo is operated by Lydia Crestwood, the data controller responsible for your personal information. Questions about this policy or your data? Email us at fridzoapp@outlook.com.
